Piesse House
Insider was engaged by a couple after they had recently purchased a dilapidated, but iconic, Art Deco house in Thames. Insider was asked to develop a colour, materials and spatial scheme that honoured the homes’ architectural design period. We chose a bold accessory exterior colour to draw attention to the unique double -curved soffits and retained the glass brick features.
Insider added to the architect’s plans and worked with the kitchen designer to achieve a modern nod to the art deco style. We used custom-built cabinetry in a dark walnut finish to tie in with the interior doors and reeded glass in the kitchen splash-back and storage cupboard. The reeded treatment was also used to clad the kitchen peninsula cabinetry to balance the look.
Brass accents were used throughout to create a striking elegance while textural elements in the window treatments and furniture upholstery were added to create softness and to play on the curves of the building.
